The Peruvian Chamber of Construction (Capeco) today asked the state enable more land under its ownership for the implementation of projects of social housing as Mivivienda, and Mi Techo Propio Hogar.El Capeco president, Lelio Balarezo, said that the land who is state property, currently not used, should be made to serve the general population through housing projects that allow access to better quality of life.

He noted that a success of the current government was using state land abandoned and turned into residential areas like wildfire in the Lima district of El Agustino, among others.

"This type of action should be replicable in areas like Piedras Gordas (Ancona), and cities within the country where there are high levels of unmet housing demand," he said.

He said the state could facilitate these lands through auctions and other mechanisms so that private investors can submit bids to realize business and start with the respective works.

Balarezo said Capeco has asked the State to accelerate the process of granting the various infrastructure projects to date delayed by red tape in its administration and management.

"It is possible that the processes for granting it are 48 steps and we take up to two years since this makes for a situation that is not profitable to any investor," he said.

He mentioned that if we continue with similar practices, the impact of the global crisis in Peru, scheduled for the first quarter of next year, significantly affect potential investments that can be made in this sector.
